eBooks are electronic books that can be read on a computer.
They are (particularly How-To instructional material) also a very popular product to sell on the Internet. While many of the best known How-To eBooks tend to be about Internet marketing or money-making, eBooks about other subjects can also sell very well. If you want to sell eBooks online, you have several options (you can not of course sell eBooks made by others unless you have permission, because it would infringe their copyright to do so):
- You can create your own eBooks, and sell those. You can use software such as our own Activ E-Book Compiler to create these Books.
- You can use "public domain" materials (material that is not protected by copyright) as the
basis of developing your eBook. Of course, you will still need to convert the materials to eBook format,
and perhaps do some editing.
- You can pay a ghostwriter to write your eBook for you (I recommend that you make a written agreement that
clearly sets out each parties' responsibilities, who owns the eBook, etc. - consult an attorney if you need
legal advice on preparing such an agreement).
- You can purchase eBooks that come with "resell rights" permitting you to sell them. Of course, if you are trying to sell the same resell rights eBook that many others are also selling, you could
have a lot of competition.
- You can find eBooks that you like, and approach the author to negotiate a resell rights deal. This is likely
to cost you more than finding eBooks that come with resell rights, but the advantage is you have a more
exclusive product (you could even negotiate an exclusive deal). Again, it would probably be a good idea to have a written
agreement before entering into this type of situation
(consult an attorney if you need legal advice on preparing such an agreement).
